Overview

Gonadorelin is a synthetic version of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), the natural hypothalamic hormone that sits at the very top of the reproductive hormone cascade, triggering the pituitary gland to release LH and FSH. It has FDA-approved uses in diagnosing pituitary and hypothalamic function and is used off-label alongside testosterone replacement therapy to help maintain the body's natural testicular function and fertility signaling during treatment.

Treatments studied

Hypogonadism

Directly stimulates the pituitary gland to release LH, addressing low testosterone at the level of the body's own hormone signaling rather than replacing testosterone directly.

Fertility support

Commonly used off-label alongside testosterone replacement therapy specifically to preserve natural testicular function and sperm production.

Growth hormone deficiency testing (diagnostic)

Its FDA-approved diagnostic use — assessing pituitary gland responsiveness as part of a broader hormone function workup.
