How it works
- Activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), triggering a strong pulse of growth hormone release from the pituitary gland.
GHRP-6 turns on the same "hunger hormone" switch your body uses naturally, which is why it boosts growth hormone and appetite at the same time.
- The same ghrelin receptor activation that drives GH release also strongly stimulates hunger signaling in the hypothalamus, producing one of the most pronounced appetite-increasing effects of any GH secretagogue.
This dual effect is actually why it's studied for conditions involving unwanted weight loss (like cachexia) — the appetite boost is a feature there, not just a side effect.
Result
Produces a reliable growth hormone pulse alongside one of the strongest appetite-boosting effects of any secretagogue studied — a combination that's a clear asset in wasting-related research contexts, but often an unwanted side effect for users focused purely on body composition.
