LL-37

Research

LL-37 (Cathelicidin Antimicrobial Peptide)

Aliases
hCAP-18 fragment, Cathelicidin
Administration
Topical (research), Subcutaneous injection (research)

How it works

  1. Directly disrupts bacterial and fungal cell membranes

It punches holes directly in the outer membrane of bacteria and fungi, killing them.

  2. Recruits and activates immune cells to sites of infection or injury

It acts like a flare, calling in other immune cells to the site of an infection or wound.

  3. Promotes angiogenesis and re-epithelialization during wound healing

It helps new blood vessels and skin cells form during the wound-healing process.

  4. Neutralizes bacterial endotoxin (LPS)

It can neutralize a toxic bacterial byproduct that would otherwise trigger a dangerous inflammatory response.

Result

Direct killing of harmful bacteria and fungi, combined with faster wound healing through immune cell recruitment. On skin or in wounds, this can mean visibly faster healing and reduced signs of infection like redness or discharge.
