MOTS-c

Research

Mitochondrial ORF of 12S rRNA-c

Aliases
Mitochondrial peptide MOTS-c
Administration
Subcutaneous injection

How it works

  1. Nuclear translocation under metabolic stress — AMPK activation

When cells are under energy stress, it travels to the cell's control center and switches on AMPK, the body's master energy-regulating switch.

  2. Enhances insulin sensitivity via GLUT4

It increases the number of sugar-transport channels on cells, helping muscles pull glucose out of the blood more efficiently.

  3. Promotes mitochondrial biogenesis

It encourages cells to build more of their internal energy-producing structures, called mitochondria.

  4. Activates folate-methionine cycle

It engages a metabolic pathway involved in energy production and cellular repair.

  5. Anti-inflammatory via NF-κB suppression

It calms a key internal switch that drives inflammation throughout the body.

Result

Improved energy metabolism and insulin sensitivity, mimicking some of the cellular benefits of exercise. This can translate into feeling less fatigued during physical activity and steadier energy levels throughout the day.
