- Exercise mimetic ERR agonist
- Administration
- Oral (research, animal studies)
How it works
- Agonist at estrogen-related receptors (ERRα, ERRβ, ERRγ)
It switches on a set of receptors that exercise normally activates.
- Upregulates genes controlling mitochondrial biogenesis
It tells cells to build more mitochondria, the structures that produce energy.
- Shifts muscle fiber composition toward fatigue-resistant, oxidative fibers
It shifts muscle fibers toward the type used for endurance rather than short bursts of power.
- Increases whole-body energy expenditure in animal models
In mice, it raised how many calories the body burned even without any additional activity.
Result
In mice, endurance and fat-burning capacity similar to what regular exercise produces — without any actual exercise. As a compound untested in humans, there's no current basis for predicting whether a person would feel any exercise-like effect.
