Thymogen
Research PhaseThymogen (Glu-Trp Dipeptide)
- Category
- Immune & Inflammatory
- Aliases
- Glu-Trp, L-glutamyl-L-tryptophan
- Administration
- Intramuscular injection, Intranasal
How it works
- Believed to support T-lymphocyte differentiation and normalize immune cell ratios, similar in intended effect to Thymalin but using a minimal, fully synthetic two-amino-acid sequence.
Thymogen is essentially a stripped-down version of Thymalin — researchers identified just two amino acids that seem to carry much of the immune-supporting effect, rather than using the full thymus extract.
- Its very small size allows for both injectable and intranasal administration, unlike the larger polypeptide complex found in Thymalin.
Because it's so small, it can be given as a nasal spray as well as an injection, which is unusual for a peptide in this category.
Result
Russian clinical research suggests immune-supporting effects comparable to thymus-extract peptides like Thymalin, achieved with a much simpler synthetic structure — though, like Thymalin, this evidence has not been reviewed by the FDA and the compound remains outside conventional U.S. prescription channels.
