Retatrutide

Clinical Trials

Retatrutide (LY3437943)

Aliases
LY3437943, Triple-G
Administration
Subcutaneous injection (once weekly)

Overview

Retatrutide is Eli Lilly's triple hormone receptor agonist, simultaneously activating GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon receptors. Phase 2 trials showed the largest average body weight reduction ever recorded for a pharmacological agent in a controlled trial, and Phase III TRIUMPH data has since confirmed results comparable to bariatric surgery outcomes.

Treatments studied

Obesity / weight management

Activates three separate hormone pathways simultaneously, producing the largest weight loss seen in trials to date.

Type 2 diabetes

Improves insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control through combined GIP and GLP-1 receptor activation.

NASH (studied)

Weight loss and improved insulin sensitivity are believed to reduce the liver fat driving this condition.

Obstructive sleep apnea (studied)

Substantial weight loss reduces the excess tissue that contributes to airway obstruction during sleep.
